Daily Rate: £160 per day or £80 per half day; hours of work are 07:15-19:15

About the role: 

We are seeking a Spotter, reporting directly to the Captain on the day, and working closely with the flight crew.  

Your primary role is to support aerial survey, tasking as a right-hand seat observer in the Diamond DA-62. You will do this by maintaining an effective visual lookout from the aircraft, to assist in ensuring safe separation and deconfliction from other airborne traffic, enhance situational awareness, and to assist the Captain in any task in maintaining a safe and effective operation. 

The role will include deployment with the flight crew in a rostering system between May and September.  

The role’s key responsibilities will include but not be limited to: 

  • Attend Pre-flight and post-flight briefings. Aim - to be aware of the collection plan for the day, understand all objectives, limitations and potential risks. Discuss with the Captain as required. 
  • Support the Captain, as requested, in undertaking daily pre-flight and post-flight activity.  
  • Support the Captain in any flight planning and task delivery as requested. 
  • Promptly advise the Captain of any sighted traffic in a concise and clear manner. 
  • Develop and maintain situational awareness of airspace and airfields in the vicinity of the aircraft and planned routes. 
  • Attend various operational and training events associated with the role. 
  • Help to promote and deliver a safe and efficient collect operation. 
  • When 'on duty' remain contactable at all times. 

Essential Skills & Experience:  

  • Experience with aviation such as previous flying in light aircraft.  
  • Ability to communicate with others effectively.  
  • Team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and good crew resource management.  
  • Be enthusiastic and willing to learn. 
  • GCSE (C or above) Mathematics, Science and English   

Preferred Skills & Experience: 

  • Knowledge of EFB software e.g., SkyDemon/Foreflight/Pilot Aware 
  • Knowledge or use of Garmin G1000 system
